Development and Design
Based on our knowledge of the platform’s capabilities, we made a variety of recommendations to improve the operation of the original app; one of which was proposing and designing a new interface using a modern OS design that significantly enhanced the user experience. We simplified user processes, created keyboard shortcuts and drag-and-drop options by using the standards for most macOS applications that truly improved the UX. Additionally, we re-architected the entire app, structuring it in a way that allows MailChimp’s internal development team to add additional features over time with very little friction.
The MailChimp team were great partners, offering timely feedback and direction along the project’s timeline. This project gave our team the opportunity to develop a Mac desktop app, something we aren’t frequently tasked with, but enjoy doing. We significantly improved the product used by millions of professionals on a daily basis, and we found the challenge to be incredibly rewarding. MailChimp continues to innovate on its platform, and we were glad to provide them with an architecture that will allow them continued success and scalability over the life of their product.
